I used to think laundry was just another household chore. Then I became a mum and realised it is a lifelong commitment. No matter how many loads I wash, there is always another one waiting. Sometimes I think the clothes multiply overnight just to keep me humble.
There are days I try to be efficient and do all the washing in one go. It starts well, but by the afternoon, my motivation disappears. The clean clothes stay in the basket for days, and eventually, everyone just starts picking out outfits from there. My daughter once asked if the basket was her new wardrobe. I didn’t even argue.
Laundry reminds me of motherhood in a strange way. It never really ends. You keep showing up and doing the same things over and over again. It doesn’t always feel like much, but somehow it matters.
So if your win today is an empty laundry basket, even for five minutes, enjoy it. That counts as success.
